. . .
I was on the standard track for many years... married, two kids, two cars, two dogs, etc. etc.
Though I always had a nagging sense that there must be "more than this" (thanks, Peter Gabriel), it wasn't until after both of my parents died that I became truly committed to - indeed, obsessed with - a personal search for meaning and authenticity.
This led to creating an entirely new life for myself and my kids, without all the old trappings of the American Dream, which it's no exaggeration to say had become a nightmare for me. (The video below was created as I was learning several new skills, and it tells a bit more about me if you’re interested.)
I'm not here to brag about all the material improvements working on transformation has brought me. In fact, I've radically downsized the material side of life, to gain freedom to grow spiritually and develop work that's heart-centered rather than money-driven.
And I'm not claiming to have magically become perfectly at peace or happy or "nice" all the time.
It's a journey, and my feet are still very much on the path. Some days I walk with lighter footsteps than others.
I've been blessed to find teachers and guides at crucial stages along the way. They have helped me keep walking through the doorways that open up, and push past my tendency to linger on thresholds.
I now know one thing for certain: I want to live, and I want everyone else to live, with clarity, beauty, and peace - surrounded by love.
That's why I am sharing what I'm learning through my ongoing healing and growth processes: maybe there is something I can do to help others walk their own authentic paths of transformation.
We are all works in progress, but not everyone is ready or willing to do the work that's necessary to make progress. There's understandable hesitation in leaving the familiar and stepping onto a path into the unknown.
But you don’t have to walk alone. ~ Love, Heather
